Designers Guild is a world famous design company that has been producing high-quality products for over forty years. The company was founded by Tricia Guild and Simon Jefferys in 1970, and predominantly manufactured home furnishings. Products available include wallpaper, fabric, bed ranges and bath ranges, as well as upholstery and accessories.
From 1975, Designers Guild released a new collection almost every year. And as their popularity increased, so did their number of collections. By 1989, seven collections had been produced within twelve months. The company went from strength to strength, and by 1992 they were winning small business awards for their creativity and innovation. Offices in London, Paris, and Munich had opened, and by 1995, the bath and bedroom collections had been launched. 1995 saw the company win an award for the European Community Design Prize.
By the millennium, Designers Guild had reached worldwide status, with more offices in Milan and the United States. They continued launching many new lines every year to keep up to date with changes in home fashions, and even branched out into carpets and luggage.
The designs on offer from Designers Guild are quintessentially British, with a particularly ‘countryside’ or ‘nautical’ feel to them. The colours are soft and pretty, either in florals, blocks, or stripes. They are ideal if you want a change in your bedroom, or if modern lines are a little too much. Their prints would not look out of place in a garden cottage, and despite their appeal, their prices are reasonable. Within each collection, prices range from around sixteen pounds for smaller item such as pillow cases, to two hundred for larger items, such as a super king duvet cover. They come in a range of sizes depending on your bed.
More recently, Designers Guild have been commissioned to produce a new line for the Queen’s Jubilee in 2012, titled ‘The Royal Collection’ which included fabrics and wallpapers, as well as a special commemorative pillow. In the same year, they were also voted Best British Brand by Elle Decoration for the second year in a row. They’re clearly doing something right.
Designers Guild have a number of products available within their bedroom collection, including pillowcases, flat and fitted sheets, blankets, quilts, duvets, and pillows, as well as fabrics and trimmings so you can make your own accessories.
Designers Guild Bed linen is some of the most high-quality linen available on the market. The company are proud of their product, as the thread count is high and the cotton blend is the best. The thread count on all Designers Guild products are at 200, making them a luxurious item to own. This is compared with a lot of bed linen which comes in at about 150 for regular cotton sheets, and higher-quality sheets measured at 180.
Designers Guiold sheets are also made from the best cotton. The White Collection of bed linen is made from the finest Egyptian cotton, which thread count measures at three hundred and is unanimously known as the longest and best cotton in the world.
